Job Description
The Occupational Health Nurse is a key engagement role focused on the day-to-day health and wellbeing of employees for the Kemerton Lithium Processing Plant.
The Occupational Health Nurse will ensure the health of employees and contractors through the delivery of professional health and medical services, health promotion, proactive injury management, monitoring of occupational health functions, and the delivery of expert advice and assistance on health and medical matters.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake injury and illness management including acute care.
* Provide emergency and non-emergency assistance and medical care across the operational site.
* Support in the management of site processes through the regular review and updating of process and procedures.
* Co-ordinate and develop in conjunction with the Safety Superintendent the hygiene monitoring program including regulatory reporting requirements.
* Monitor EAP services and reporting.
* Coordinate and deliver employee engagement plan and health promotion campaigns in conjunction with the Wellness Coordinator.
* Conduct health assessments and screenings.
* Return to work management including coordination and monitoring of non-work-related return to work case load and return to work programs.
* Conduct initial workers compensation claim management. 2B claim, employers report of injury and first medical certificate and lodgement with Insurer.
* Conduct pre-employment medical reviews in conjunction with the Wellness Coordinator.
* Conduct site drug and alcohol testing.
* Coordinate blanket and random drug and alcohol testing in liaison with the Health and Safety Manager.
* Ensure that all health and medical reporting requirements meet corporate requirements.
* Coordinate the bookings, conduct the testing and manage results for audiometric tests, ear fit testing and respiratory fit testing for employees.
* Implement and manage the referral process for employees who meet the Waugh and Macrea criteria for baseline audiometric testing.
* Maintain detailed health records, including treatment notes, pre-employment medicals and health surveillance records.
* Attend Doctors appointment as required for operation injuries ensuring first medical certificates are completed within role requirements.
* Monitor stocks in the treatment room and provide recommendation for specific clinical consumables dependent of injuries.
* Liaise with Human Resources and return confirmations of employment letters for Workcover testing.
* Provide advice, guidance and assist with fitness for work issues.
* Coordinate calibration of medical equipment.
* Conduct training, skill development and medicals with ERT Specialist and ERT Team.
* Contribute to operational readiness through the development of health and hygiene systems, processes and procedures.
* Coordinate specialist health consultants and contractors.
* Process prescription Safety Glasses forms.
Requirements:
Work Experience / Technical Skill Requirements:
* Minimum 4 years' experience as a Registered Nurse working in a clinical setting.
* Demonstrated experience in first responder medical care.
* Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of injury management and return to work process and practices.
* Previous experience in a similar working environment (mining, resources, chemical or processing).
* Sound clinical reasoning and diagnostics skills.
* Demonstrated experience in Occupational Health and / or Hygiene.
* Experience in the development and continuous improvement of health and hygiene systems, processes and procedures.
* Working knowledge of best practice injury management and workers' compensation processes.
* Skilled in effective communication and stakeholder management.
* Skilled at delivering health related projects.
* C Class Australian Drivers License.
Education / Qualification Requirements:
* Bachelor of Nursing.
* AHPRA – Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency Registration.
* Current qualification in Advanced Life Support (ALS).
* Audiometric Officer.
* Injury Management Coordinators Course.
* Respiratory and Ear fit tester.
