About the Role In this newly created role reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Risk Officer will provide strategic and operational leadership across Work Cover's risk and assurance, common law claims, regulatory and complaints management, and corporate relations functions. You will play a critical role in shaping Work Cover's risk management frameworks, overseeing common law claims, managing regulatory obligations, and driving a customer-centric risk culture that aligns with Work Cover's purpose and objectives. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CRO will guide the strategic direction of risk and assurance, bringing insight into best practice governance and compliance. The role has direct accountability for over 40 FTE and manages a budget of approximately $8.5 million, with an additional $75 million for external legal panel services. Key Responsibilities: Leading Work Cover's risk management framework, ensuring alignment with industry best practices. Providing expert guidance to the CEO, Board, and Risk and Compliance Committee on risk and control matters. Overseeing legal functions and managing the common law claims portfolio. Developing and managing key regulatory and corporate relationships to bolster Work Cover's compliance culture. Championing Work Cover's commitment to continuous improvement by driving process re-engineering and integrating feedback to strengthen service delivery. About You We are seeking a senior risk professional with demonstrated experience in regulated financial services or insurance. You will have a track record of embedding risk as a strategic driver within complex organisations, with an emphasis on compliance and a proven ability to build resilient, high-performing teams. You will demonstrate: Proven Industry Experience: Extensive C-suite risk management experience in a comparable organisation within the financial services or insurance sector is essential, ensuring readiness to lead without further development. Strategic Leadership: Expertise in setting and executing strategic risk and assurance frameworks that enhance organisational effectiveness. Stakeholder Management: Exceptional ability to manage complex regulatory and corporate relationships, influencing policy and compliance at the highest levels. Transformation Focus: Experience in driving change across risk management and assurance functions, fostering a resilient and high-performing team.
