Riverina Teaching Hub Program-00009O9V
BECOME A SECONDARY TEACHER IN THE RIVERINA
About the program
Based on the Alphacrucis Teaching Hub Model, the Department of Education is partnering with University of New South Wales (UNSW) to provide initial teacher education degrees to people in the Riverina.
In 2024, 15 positions are available to support local people to commence studies and journey towards becoming a teacher in a NSW public school in the Riverina.
The Riverina Teaching Hub provides aspiring secondary teachers with an opportunity to complete their studies flexibly in the Riverina, while working part-time one day per week as an Educational Paraprofessional in a participating local NSW public secondary school. Participants will complete an undergraduate or postgraduate teaching degree with UNSW, receiving wrap around support from the department and their university, and an annual training allowance of up to $7,500 per full time year of study.
On successful completion of the program, participants will be offered a full-time permanent teaching position in an NSW public school in an agreed location.
Participating schools include Albury High School, Corowa High School, Kooringal High School, Mount Austin High School and Murray High School.

Studying with University of New South Wales (UNSW)
All courses are delivered by UNSW using a hybrid delivery mode which includes virtual tutorials and face-to-face sessions which will take place in a participating school in the Riverina once per trimester. This enables the cohort to form connections with each other and UNSW lecturers, while removing the need to travel to university campuses outside of the Riverina.
The program offers a range of qualifications for participants to study at UNSW using a hybrid delivery mode. Eligible course are:
1. Bachelor of Education (Secondary) – approximately 4 years for undergraduates:
1. (Secondary) > specialising in History, Indigenous Studies or Languages including Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish
2. (Secondary) > specialising in Science and Mathematics
3. (Secondary) > specialising in Business and Economics
