The Finance Branch is responsible for financial management and governance, ensuring effective business management and legislative compliance.
Responsibilities: Supervise, lead and provide on-the-job training for rates team members as required. Assist the Team Leader in planning team workflows, ensuring key performance indicators, customer response times and deadlines are met. Be heavily involved in project work for the upgrade of Council's Property & Rating System, along with day-to-day tasks. Maintain and develop knowledge of rating best practices and prevailing trends, applying this information to assist the Team Leader in promoting continuous improvement. Demonstrate and apply a high level of understanding of policies, procedures, and legislation, specifically Council's Revenue Policy, Revenue Statement, Community Titles Act, Queensland Local Government Act, and Regulations in the production of rate notices and maintenance of rating systems and processes. About you: As a Senior Rates Officer, you will have demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills, including the ability to manage competing team priorities and apply quality control processes to achieve high-quality accurate results.
You will possess strong communication and customer service skills in providing information over the phone, in email, and other standard business correspondence.
You will have demonstrated strong data management skills with knowledge of rating or similar IT systems, combined with strong analytical skills and the ability to review data and processes and suggest improvements.
You will be available to travel between Council offices and work outside normal hours to meet seasonal deadlines and for each major half-yearly rate run over a weekend.
As a requirement of this role, you will possess Certificate III in business administration or similar and/or previous senior experience in local government with demonstrated applied knowledge of property and rating functions.
Criminal History Check Required: Appointment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a Criminal History Check.
