The Position:
Due to ongoing business growth, we are looking for a senior to principal level structural engineer to join the team. Based in Wollongong, you will work on a range of mining, ports and transport infrastructure (bridges, roads, rail) remediation design projects across the country.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity in a highly regarded and established consultancy that values its staff and invests in their professional development.
Responsibilities:
Lead ongoing critical projects with a key focus on safety and quality;
Lead structural design and load rating projects including analysis of mining/marine/transport infrastructure structures with concrete and steelwork;
Act as client contact as appointed for specific projects;
Conduct site inspections to identify structural defects and scope upgrades;
Mentor/supervise junior engineers;
Liaise with staff members in our other offices; and
Other tasks as allocated by senior staff.
Selection Criteria:
Whilst there will be on-the-job training and the opportunity for career progression, the successful applicant will ideally have:
Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering;
Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in mining, ports and transport industries;
Competent using structural analysis software packages i.e. SpaceGass, Strand7;
Sound knowledge and experience in structural design, analysis, client/stakeholder management and project delivery;
Experienced with site inspections and defect identification;
Hold or be working towards CPEng;
Highly developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills;
Open unrestricted drivers licence;
Be currently residing in Australia with associated full working rights;
Willingness to travel to undertake site inspections;
Membership with Engineers Australia; and
Fluent in written and spoken English.
While not mandatory, candidates experienced with durability and remediation engineering and/or cathodic protection will be advantageous.
