As an R&D Chemist, you will be responsible for developing and improving chemical formulations, processes, and products to meet industry and customer requirements. Your role will involve research, testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive innovation in chemical products.
Key Responsibilities:
a) Research & Development:
* Develop new formulations and improve existing products for performance, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
* Conduct laboratory experiments and pilot-scale trials to evaluate chemical properties and reactions.
* Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements.
b) Testing & Analysis:
* Perform physical, chemical, and performance testing on raw materials and finished products.
* Utilize analytical instruments such as FTIR, GC-MS, HPLC, and spectrophotometers for quality control.
* Interpret test results and document findings in detailed reports.
c) Process Optimization:
* Improve production processes for efficiency, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
* Work closely with manufacturing teams to scale up lab formulations to full production.
* Troubleshoot production issues related to chemical formulations.
d) Regulatory & Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with local and international regulations (e.g., REACH, OSHA, ISO standards).
* Maintain safety standards and implement environmentally sustainable practices.
* Work with cross-functional teams including quality control, manufacturing, and sales.
* Prepare technical reports, safety data sheets (SDS), and product specifications.
* Provide technical support to internal teams and customers.
Job Requirements:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field .
* 3-5+ years of experience in R&D, product development, or formulation chemistry (depending on the seniority level).
Technical Skills:
* Strong knowledge of chemical formulations, polymer science, coatings, adhesives, or construction chemicals .
* Understanding of chemical safety and regulatory compliance .
* Problem-solving mindset with analytical thinking.
* Strong communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.
* Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
