4 Month Contract 2 X 12 Month Extensions Ability to obtain a Baseline Clearance Woden Office, 2 days per week work from home Our Client, a large Federal Government Department is seeking experienced Software Engineer (Oracle Developers) to support the maintenance and enhancement of existing business applications within the Corporate Systems Branch (CSB). This role involves working as part of a small multi-disciplinary team to deliver solutions for business needs and maintain current Oracle-based applications. The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining large and complex applications, conducting code reviews, and ensuring that application development aligns with the department’s standards and methodologies. We are looking for creative problem-solvers with strong analytical and technical expertise. The successful candidates will have extensive experience in Oracle development, with demonstrated experience in maintaining and enhancing large-scale applications. They will work closely with various stakeholders, including business analysts, testers, and other technical teams, to ensure the successful delivery of projects. This position will be based in Canberra and will be available starting February 2025. The Deliverables for the Oracle Developer are as follows: Develop and maintain Oracle databases in accordance with business requirements and specifications; Design and implement database schemas, tables, views, indexes, triggers, procedures, functions, packages, and other database objects using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL; Optimise database performance, security, availability, and scalability using Oracle tools and best practices; Create and execute unit test cases, debug and troubleshoot issues, and document and maintain code quality and standards; Collaborate with other developers, analysts, testers, and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure seamless integration and delivery of solutions; Provide technical support and guidance to developers, delivery managers, and the Health Business Applications team as required; Investigate and resolve production system application issues promptly to minimise downtime and ensure continuity of service; Research and evaluate new Oracle database features and recommend solutions to improve existing systems and processes; Follow change control processes to ensure all solutions are implemented efficiently and effectively; Demonstrate the ability to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines and changing requirements; Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively; Develop and maintain comprehensive production support documentation to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity.
