Utilise your exceptional leadership skills to lead a team of Education Designers within the Faculty of Medicine and HealthLead a team to provide innovation in teaching and learning, and the student learning experience through practical solutions, and advising on pedagogically suitable tools and approachesFull-time continuing with a base salary of $121,508 + 17% superannuationAbout the opportunity The University of Sydney is now ranked 19th in the world for 2024 university rankings, moving up 22 places in the last year.Our graduate employability is 1st in Australia, and 4th in the world; our subject rankings in Medicine are rated 1st in Australia, and 25th in the world.As such, we are in a period of exciting and significant investment in our Faculty of Medicine and Health and to deliver on the University's ambitious strategic plan, we are seeking an Education Design Manager to lead a team of Education Designers.The manager leads innovation in teaching and learning design and student learning experience by providing practical solutions and advice on pedagogically suitable tools and approaches.You will be responsible for leading a team that provides expert advice, training, and support to staff to make the best use of educational technology to deliver engaging and effective courses.This role is based at our Camperdown campus and will require you to be onsite fulltime.We recognise the benefits of flexible working arrangements for individuals, teams, and the University, and provide a framework for planning, managing, and supporting ways of working flexibly while also ensuring our operational needs are met.Your key responsibilities will be to: Provide effective leadership and management guidance and support to the educational designers in the Educational Design & Innovation Team including feedback, coaching, and support for individual performance, career, and talent development, to build an effective and high-performing team.Identify and appraise educational design needs and opportunities across faculty programs and develop viable strategies to improve the student experience.Partner with academic staff to make the best use of educational technology to deliver engaging and effective courses.Manage the provision of advice around educational design and innovation initiatives to better support the design and development of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.Provide pedagogical and technical expertise and leadership to the work area in the creation and development of educational resources to enhance the student learning experience.About you To be successful in this role, you have:Demonstrated experience in the supervision, training, mentoring, and performance management of staff; and experience managing and resolving a diverse range of HR issues.Experience delivering education programs, preferably in a tertiary education environment.Demonstrated ability to work with and collegially influence a range of professional and academic staff, preferably in a tertiary education environment.Effective and tactful communication skills (both verbal and written) together with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement.Excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, exercise attention to detail, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes.Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
