We are seeking an experienced and motivated Wintel Network Engineer to join their dynamic IT team on a contract basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to significant network infrastructure projects within a large-scale enterprise environment. Based in Melbourne's northern suburbs, this role offers a hybrid working model, blending onsite collaboration with remote flexibility. The Role: As the Wintel Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the support, maintenance, and enhancement of the client's core network infrastructure, with a strong focus on Windows-based systems and services. You will likely be involved in key upgrade projects, ensuring the stability, security, and performance of critical network components supporting their extensive retail operations. Key Responsibilities: Designing, implementing, managing, and supporting Wintel server environments (Windows Server OS, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP). Configuring, managing, and troubleshooting network hardware including routers, switches, and firewalls (experience with specific vendors like Cisco, Palo Alto, etc., is advantageous). Participating in network infrastructure upgrade and migration projects. Monitoring network performance and security, identifying potential issues, and implementing solutions. Maintaining accurate network documentation and diagrams. Collaborating with internal IT teams and project managers to deliver solutions effectively. Providing technical support and troubleshooting for network-related issues. Working within virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V). Skills and Experience Required: Proven experience working as a Network Engineer or Systems Engineer with a strong focus on Wintel environments. In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and related services. Solid understanding and hands-on experience with core networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols, switching). Experience configuring and managing network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls). Experience working on network infrastructure upgrade or migration projects is highly desirable. Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware preferred). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid setting. Experience within large enterprise or retail environments is a plus.
