The roleThe Sewerage Operations Technician contributes to the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of South East Water's sewerage networks. This field- and office-based role ensures the sewerage network is operating correctly and in accordance with industry practices and standards, facilitates maintenance and co-ordinates repairs or emergency response.
The team operates within a 24/7 service environment and provides emergency response to minimise disruption of services to customers and as well as ensuring that public health and the environment are not put at risk.
Some key accountabilities for the role include the following:
Daily use of technology to issue and manage works through South East Water's works management systemRespond to complex customer issues usually within tight timeframes and undertake appropriate actionIdentify, assist in the development and implementation of sewerage network improvements which may be technology, process or infrastructure basedSchedule work for contractors by ensuring all planning is prepared in advance to maintain efficient outcomes, coupled with effective timely responses when requiredWork collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support sewer network activities, while contributing towards the improvement of processes to achieve organisational goalsWho are you?The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team-player, holding excellent problem-solving skills as well as the following skills and attributes:
Water Operations Certificate 3, relevant Trade Qualification or relevant water industry experienceDemonstrable experience in the construction and/or operations of sewerage, water and recycled water systemsAbility to operate independently and undertake robust investigations in a timely mannerExperience using technology such as SCADA and Works Management systemsAbility to diagnose and resolve complex problems related to the sewerage networkExcellent customer service skills, including well-rounded communication and negotiation skills for the resolution of customer issues using judgement, tact and diplomacyWhat's in it for you?

As part of a team of engineers and technicians, central to this role are responsibilities for 24/7 safe operation to provide support and minimise disruption of services to customers and as well as ensuring that public health and the environment are not put at risk. This includes participation in a rostered after-hours duty team, emergency response, and incident support as required.
