The Department – Alfred Cancer Program The Alfred Cancer Program is responsible for the overall delivery of a comprehensive cancer service which involves a number of clinical areas and units including Medical Oncology, Clinical Haematology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Apheresis, State-wide Haemophilia Service, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care and the Victorian Melanoma Service. The Role We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, dynamic and skilled senior clinical occupational therapist (Grade 3). This role will be responsible for establishing and delivering clinical services in the new outpatient Lymphoedema Service, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The Senior Clinician will take a leadership role in design, implementation and evaluation of the cancer outpatient occupational therapy service, with a focus on the establishment of a lymphoedema service. Key responsibilities include: Provision of high-quality evidence-based care in the assessment, treatment and coordination of services for people with lymphoedema. Provision of clinical leadership, supervision and mentoring within their own discipline, whilst also contributing to the development of the Allied Health service and the Cancer Program. Contributing to optimal patient care through leading and participating in collaborative practice with the multidisciplinary team. Working closely with the Grade 3 Occupational Therapy Stream Leader and Occupational Therapy leadership team to ensure a coordinated and equitable allocation of resources. Actively participate in defining the scope of lymphoedema service provision in line with organisational expectations and leading an innovative model of care to ensure optimal and efficient outcomes. Qualifications Required: Occupational Therapy Qualification Evidence of successful completion of Level 1 and Level 2 Lymphoedema training course. Current full registration held with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA) or equivalent, and eligibility for OTA membership Desirable: Post graduate qualification in one of Occupational Therapy, Public Health, Research and/or Health Management or working towards same. Skills & Experience Senior Occupational Therapist with a minimum seven years’ clinical experience, with demonstrated clinical expertise and leadership in cancer services and lymphoedema management. Well-developed leadership and supervision skills, including experience in leading clinical teams and promotion of professional competence and growth of other staff. Demonstrated understanding of continuous quality improvement principles, including skills in evaluation and implementation of evidence-based practice and modification of service delivery. High level of communication and interpersonal skills to promote teamwork, and a proven ability to relate effectively to people at all levels of the organisation.
