About the role: The Senior Finance Accountant will oversee the statutory reporting obligations of Department of Health and have responsibility in delivering a range of accounting support, cash management and reconciliation services, including the management of the Department's asset registers. The Senior Finance Accountant engages with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure the unit achieves its service delivery timelines and expectations and takes a lead role in projects which modify or enhance systems and business processes impacting the Unit. The position plays an integral part in ensuring the Department meets its audit and financial reporting requirements and will be heavily focussed on the collation, analysis, reconciliation, interrogation, forecasting and presentation of complex data sets. How you'll make a difference: Lead the preparation of internal and external financial reports and in the delivery of accounting support, cash management and reconciliation services, including the management of the Department's asset registers. Keep up to date with latest changes to Accounting Standards and Financial Reporting Directions and Guidance. Responsibility for meeting the tax obligations of the Department. Provide high-quality accounting and tax advisory support to key stakeholders. Support activities across the Accounting Support, Tax and Insurance team, as needed and directed by the Manager. Ensuring the Department meets its accountabilities under the Standing Directions 2018 under the Financial Management Act 1994, including associated Financial Reporting Frameworks such as the Resource Management Framework. Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate: Appropriate tertiary qualifications in relevant areas such as Accounting, Finance, or similar related disciplines. Demonstrated experience and understanding in financial accounting and relevant legislation including the Financial Management Act 1994, government financial management frameworks and accounting standards.
