About the Organisation:Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) providing holistic primary health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Derby and surrounding communities. DAHS provide a wide range of innovative public health programs in addition to direct comprehensive primary health care services. About the Position:DAHS provides holistic primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Your responsibility will be to enhance testing for STIs and BBVs, integrate sexual health into routine care, and provide evidence-based clinical management. Your work will contribute to improved health outcomes and community wellbeing.Responsibilities include:The scope of this position will include, but is not limited to:
Supporting and promoting STI testing within primary health care.
Providing day-to-day health services in a professional, confidential, and culturally safe manner.
Utilising point-of-care technology for testing.
Delivering evidence-based clinical management to symptomatic clients and named contacts.
Practising according to established guidelines and maintaining accurate records.
Liaising with other agencies and health professionals as needed.
Facilitating community-based health education on STI/BBV risk, prevention, and management.
Developing strategies to increase screening among at-risk individuals.
Ensure maintenance and confidentiality information systems such as patient health record, computer systems,
statistics and other records as required for the efficient, effective management of clients.
Assist doctors, nurses and other health professionals with communication treatment and any advice relevant to a
client’s treatment.
Provide evidence based STI/BBV clinical management to symptomatic clients and named contacts including testing, treatment, contact tracing and follow-up.
Assist the Sexual Health staff to develop culturally appropriate material to use for the delivery of Health
About YouTo be considered for the position, you must meet and address the following criteria with your application:Essential:
Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Authority – (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
with at least 2 years post graduate experience
Practice within clinical standards and quality of care, which is effective, efficient and in accordance with best
practice and agreed standards and policies.
Demonstrated skills and experience in sexual health or primary health care setting.
Excellent understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health issues.
Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a remote setting.
Capability to conduct training and education sessions.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Effective communication skills.
Proficiency in planning and managing work independently.
Current “C” class driver’s license.
National Police Clearance.
WA Working with Children’s Check
Current First Aid and CPR
Desirable:
Post-graduate qualifications in sexual health
Covid-19 vaccinated
Experience with electronic patient information systems within the primary health care setting.
Experience or willingness to develop community-based health promotion programs.
