Job Summary
A Family Service Counselor plays a crucial role in serving client families by making at-need cemetery arrangements and selling pre-need arrangements. They provide personalized service, generate revenue for the cemetery, and act as the primary contact for families.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Generation
* Prospect for at least 1-2 hours each day.
* Obtain referrals from served families.
* Network and build community relationships.
* Presents to families and referred families.
* Maintain and track activity levels.
Build Relationships with Families
* Respond to client inquiries in a timely and respectful manner.
* Connect with families through listening and genuine concern.
* Develop an understanding of each family's unique needs.
* Stay in touch to ensure satisfaction.
* Prepare for appointments and perform procedures professionally.
* Follow through on customer problems and requests.
* Build trust-based relationships to earn referrals.
* Educate families on the benefits of pre-planning.
Teamwork
* Represent a continuous link between services provided.
* Collaborate with funeral directors and cemetery staff.
* Review previous services to support current needs.
* Share family concerns with the SCI team.
Requirements
Education
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* 1-2 years of college or equivalent education and experience.
Experience
* High school equivalency and 1-2 years of college or equivalent education and experience.
* Customer service or sales industry experience preferred.
Licenses
* Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Pass the Company's internal presentation certification.
* Ability to work evenings and weekends.
* Ability to drive frequently.
* Ability to obtain an insurance license if required.
* Flexible hours with the ability to work up to 12 hours a day.
