Starting as a small contractor providing silica mining & haulage services for BHP Billiton back in 2000, our operations have since expanded to include crushing and screening, quarry products, bulk transport services and site civil works. About the role MLG Oz Pty Ltd are currently seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Inspector / HSE Advisor to join our site based Crushing and Screening operations. Key Duties of this role include : Examining equipment specifications, and inspecting and testing machines, equipment and clothing to ensure compliance with safety standards and serviceability; Inspecting site to ensure compliance with government and industry standards and regulations; Assisting in conducting safety meetings and campaigns, and organising training in general safety principles in keeping with regulations; Observing workers to ensure protective devices are being utilised according to regulations and that combustible and other hazardous materials are used and stored in accordance with approved procedures; Conducting tests in work areas to detect toxic fumes, explosive gas-air mixtures and other work hazards; Ensuring fire prevention equipment and other safety supplies, such as first aid kits, stretchers and blankets, conform to standards; Establishing strong relationships with both internal and external clients, and actively managing those relationships; Actively promoting a positive safety culture by assisting managers in creating an environment that encourages open dialogue and regular reporting; Extensive knowledge in risk and hazard management, including developing and implementing controls; Regularly liaising with injured workers and their managers to ensure they are provided with a high level of support and advice on individual return to work plans; Developing and delivering appropriate employee and contractor safety inductions, awareness programs and training sessions; Organising, scheduling monthly meetings and providing feedback on behalf of management to HSE advisory committee; Developing risk assessments and JSAs; Conducting Audits; Conducting ICAM investigations and completing reports; Producing daily, weekly and monthly reports accurately and on a timely basis; Advising the site occupational health and safety legislative requirements and ensure compliance is maintained. To be successful in your application, you will need the following : Certificate IV OHS; Section 44 Appointed Person; Ability to pass a Pre-employment medical, incl. Drug & Alcohol screen; 3+ years' experience in system and documentation development; Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word and Excel; A high attention to detail to ensure high quality work outcomes. The following will also be highly regarded : Diploma of Occupational/Workplace Health and Safety; 3+ years relevant mine site experience/crushing plants; Previous machine operator experience. Cert IV Training and Assessment. A remuneration package between $90,000 - $130,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
