Overview
Exciting and challenging roles are available for a self-motivated and innovative nurses looking to step up to the next level and join a strong and supportive multidisciplinary team. You will provide proficient, person-centred clinical nursing care to patients in the Operating Theatre at the Mount Gambier and District Health Service. Monitoring patient care to ensure appropriate outcomes are achieved on a daily basis, you will participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to patient safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the perioperative setting. If appointed as Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will undertake service management responsibilities including performance management, recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation and attendance management, and the planning and monitoring of finances and supplies. You will promote continuity and consistency of care within the Operating Theatre setting, accepting accountability for practice standards providing guidance to less experienced nurses.
You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With demonstrated competence in perioperative nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards, you will have effective communication skills including problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. With the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and prioritise workloads, you will be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the operating theatre setting. For appointment at the Associate Nurse Unit Manager level, it is expected that you will have prior experience in the supervision of student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Registered Nurses.
