An exciting opportunity to collaborate and work closely with the General Counsel, Senior Legal Advisors and in-house lawyers to ensure high-quality legal service delivery. To be successful in this role, you will: Provide effective paralegal support to the General Counsel branch so that legal work is supported by necessary background information and assistance and the branch operates efficiently. Research and analyse legal issues as requested by the General Counsel branch staff to support innovative approaches to the provision of legal advice. Assist General Counsel branch staff with tasks related to litigation, dispute resolution and contract preparation in accordance with organisational objectives and relevant timeframes. Develop and maintain current knowledge in relation to the legal practice areas in which the paralegal works. Obtain information from third parties and create reports and legal documents. Share information with lawyers through meetings and briefing sessions. Coordinate with lawyers to keep them informed of the work being planned and undertaken. Maintain files on cases for future reference or for the benefit of other lawyers in the office. Meet with clients and take notes during these meetings. Prepare legal documents, such as summons, complaints, CEO certificates, agreements, leases, licences and statutory notices. Coordinate with business support officers to ensure that they complete all tasks in a timely manner. We're looking for people who have: Ability to proactively anticipate, identify and resolve administrative issues related to legal service delivery before they become an issue or threat to the organisation. Understanding (or the ability to acquire an understanding) of the nuanced details and operational relationships and services across the organisation and within local government. Competency (or the ability to acquire competency) in IT systems utilised by the General Counsel branch. Prior paralegal experience will be an advantage. Driver licence class C unrestricted.
