Our purpose: deliver safe, reliable and competitive supply of energy to our business and enable BHP's climate strategy through transition to low emission energy. The successful candidate shall bring this purpose to life with key responsibilities including the origination of Renewable Power Purchase Agreements to assist BHP in achieving its medium-term target to reduce operational greenhouse gas emissions by at least 30% by FY2030 (from FY2020 levels) and Book Management of BHP's East Coast Assets Power Book.This role will have the opportunity to directly influence BHP's energy transition and decarbonisation efforts in Australia. The role is based out of our Perth office and there are multiple opportunities available.In this role you will be responsible for:Development and implementation of regional and national commercial strategies to enhance the effectiveness of power and renewable energy certificate origination, contracting, in full alignment with the operational requirements of the Assets supported.Lead the end-to-end origination of commercial renewable energy arrangements whilst successfully collaborating with BHP Functional teams to ensure BHP's key objectives are met.Develop and manage the required internal approvals for all origination activities ensuring BHP's objectives at a Portfolio level are met.As a Renewable power expert lead relevant workstreams on other projects focused on BHP's goal to achieve net-zero operational GHG emissions by 2050.Assessment of energy transition strategies for the Assets.Power Book Management including execution, management and optimisation of the sourcing and contracting strategies in accordance with established Company policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.Optimisation of demand side management levers ensuring both Asset and Commercial requirements are met.Management of the Assets regulatory obligations in relation to power and environmental certificates.Establishment and growth of high quality internal and external stakeholder relationships and networks.All matters relating to electricity and environmental certificate markets (including existing/emerging power providers capabilities, NEM changes, regulatory changes, technology developments etc.).About YouBachelor's Degree or related equivalent experience.Expertise in execution and management of renewable Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), with a sound knowledge of technical and commercial issues/risks associated with these.Strong understanding of origination processes and exhibits the capacity to effectively self-execute sourcing process.Strong knowledge and understanding of commercial terms and conditions including expertise in resolving commercial terms and conditions issues through collaboration.Strong understanding of regulatory requirements within the Australian electricity markets.Must be able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively working in a fast-paced team environment.Collaboration and influencing skills to work with cross functional peers to gain support for all initiatives.Analytical data driven decision making and problem solving.Strong communication and presentation skills.About Our ProcessAt BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role.
