We are seeking to establish a pool of Teacher – Visual Arts for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Our college caters for 1750 students from Years 7 to 12 who come to us through the seven Gifted and Talented programs run by the college for children identified as gifted in the creative domain, including; Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Music Theatre and Visual Arts, as well as through a small local catchment or participation in our Soccer Excellence Program, making the college a unique learning environment.

Engagement in creativity and the Arts is as a vehicle for student engagement and motivation at the college. The Arts at John Curtin is as much about providing dynamic opportunities for all students (each year we produce over 100 performances/exhibitions) as it is about developing transferable life skills such as empathy, creative and critical thinking, collaboration and the ability to communicate, all important attributes for any future pathway.
John Curtin is proud to be a Quality Teaching Strategy Lead School and works to implement evidence-based best practice teaching in line with Teaching for Impact. This provides opportunities for our staff to engage in professional development as well as providing opportunities to work with staff from other Department of Education schools to support quality teaching more broadly across the state.
The Role
John Curtin College of the Arts is seeking to establish a pool of suitably qualified and skilled Visual Arts teachers for part-time and full-time positions that may arise in the 2025 school year. Initially we are seeking a skilled teacher in the specialist area of painting with a capacity to engage gifted learners in developing skills. As well as experience in delivering upper-school courses, including ATAR Visual Arts practical and written, and outstanding visual art skills across a range of 2D and 3D media.
The suitable applicants should possess the professional knowledge, understandings, and experience to deliver the Visual Arts curriculum to an advanced level for gifted learners and engage effectively with learners of different backgrounds and be committed to supporting wellbeing, excellence and creativity in our students.
Eligibility
* Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

* Consent to and obtain a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
