Job Title: Principal Engineer Hydraulics
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to join our hydraulic engineering discipline team. As a technical leader, you will be responsible for providing specialist design and technical leadership for SA Water's hydraulic water and wastewater projects.
About the Role:
As a Subject Matter Expert in hydraulic engineering, you will influence and contribute expertise across the Corporation, working with both water and wastewater infrastructure. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Providing specialist design and technical leadership for SA Water hydraulic water and wastewater projects.
* Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in hydraulic engineering, guiding design processes and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
* Maintaining and enhancing technical governance, ensuring all hydraulic engineering solutions are cost-effective and aligned to SA Water's objectives.
* Evaluating and recommending new and emerging technologies for adoption by the Corporation.
* Fostering a collaborative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing, development, and engagement across multidisciplinary teams, our partners, and the wider industry.
* Promoting a safety-first approach, integrating health, safety, and environmental considerations into the lifecycle of hydraulic assets.
* Ensuring timely and accurate communication with stakeholders, delivering effective solutions that meet business and customer expectations.
Requirements:
* Professional qualifications in civil or mechanical engineering.
* Proven experience in hydraulic engineering within the industry and the development and ongoing review of technical and infrastructure governance.
* Detailed knowledge of hydraulic engineering procedures and practices as applied in the water industry and large engineering organizations.
* Experience in the provision of investigation, option, concept, and detailed design of hydraulic infrastructure (water/wastewater networks).
* Demonstrated experience in the execution of novel, complex, and critical engineering investigations and designs.
* Recognition of discipline expertise by Engineers Australia is essential.
