The primary purpose of the Security Officer is to ensure the safety and security of the client site located in Newcastle (Various Sites), its personnel, and visitors. This role involves responding promptly to incidents, conducting foot and vehicle patrols, utilizing electronic security systems, and providing excellent customer service. The Security Officer plays a critical role in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment by implementing effective security measures, recording and reporting incidents, and supporting the university's commitment to safety and inclusivity.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct incident investigations in a timely manner and ensure that Security Incident Reports are completed and submitted.
* Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the implementation of emergency procedures.
* Promote and encourage a team approach.
* Provide a customer service approach and maintain a fair, courteous and respectful manner in dealing with clients and customers.
* Provide a high-quality security service at client locations.
* Provide protection to the public by ensuring COVID social distancing is maintained.
* Provide security escorts as required.
* Report and record security breaches and incidents.
* Respond promptly to incidents.
* Take a problem-solving approach to conflict situations and recognize the need to escalate situations to the manager/supervisor for attention as appropriate.
Qualifications
* Current and applicable NSW 1A & 1C Security License.
* Current NSW First Aid Certification.
* Current NSW Driver Licence.
* Australian/New Zealand citizen or permanent Australian resident or hold a visa that entitles you to work in Australia (other than a student or working holiday visa).
* Ability to pass a medical.

Experience
* 12 months working in Shopping Centre and concierge roles.
* Previous experience in a similar role would be highly desirable.
* Computer skills and ability to work within systems.
