Metallurgist required for a 6-month contract in the Goldfields, WAWe are seeking a highly skilled Metallurgist with gold production experience for a 6-month FIFO contract in WA. You will work closely with engineers, geologists, and production teams to analyse metal properties and apply metallurgical principles to improve recovery rates and quality of metals. This position requires a solid understanding of metallurgy, materials science, and the specific challenges faced in the mining sector. Responsibilities Conduct metallurgical tests on metals and alloys to determine their properties and behaviour during processing and end-use.Analyse and interpret data from experiments to develop processes that improve metal recovery and quality.Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement efficient processing techniques for extraction and refinement.Identify and troubleshoot issues related to metallurgical processes in mining operations, ensuring minimal downtime and optimised productivity.Research and develop innovative metallurgical techniques to advance production methods and enhance product quality.Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders and upper management.Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations in metallurgical processes and practices.Requirements Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in metallurgy or metallurgical engineering within the gold mining sectorStrong understanding of metallurgical principles, thermodynamics, and material properties.Familiarity with the latest research, trends, and technological advancements in metallurgical processes.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and statistical methods.Effective communication and presentation skills to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
