We're looking for a professional to join our Capital Equipment Group within the Valuation Modelling and Economics team, focusing on plant and equipment valuation services based in our Melbourne office. As a member of EY's Capital Equipment Group, you will deliver asset valuations and provide insights into the asset base for blue-chip clients in capital-intensive industries, aiding strategic decision-making, particularly during live transactions.
Your key responsbilities
Conduct valuations of plant and equipment for various purposes, and assist in providing strategic asset management advice.
Collaborate with a small, dynamic team to analyze financial data and engineering information, as well as to conduct cost and market research.
Undertake supervised site inspections of a wide range of infrastructure, machinery, plant, and equipment across Australia.
Develop proficiency in the use of our in-house valuation model to estimate values based on secondary market research, asset condition, replacement costs, useful life analysis, and other financial information.
Liaise with clients to manage project logistics and provide insights into our analysis.
Actively assist the team in pursuing new opportunities and drafting proposals.
This role includes regular interstate travel.
What we’re looking for

1. A recent graduate in Civil or Mechanical Engineering seeking an exciting career path.
2. A professional currently working in plant and equipment valuation looking to work on large portfolios of high value assets
3. A professional currently working in property or business valuation looking to transition into plant and equipment valuations.
4. An individual with asset management experience aiming to leverage their skills in a new domain.
5. Experience in Microsoft Excel-based financial analysis
6. Proficient in working with other Microsoft Office tools (Power Point, Word etc.). Experience working with PowerBI or other data analytics packages would also be viewed favourably
7. Good interpersonal and client relationship skills
8. High personal drive and motivation to succeed in a growing team with lots of opportunities
Ideally, you’ll also have
9. A relevant tertiary qualification is ideal but not essential. Relevant qualifications include Engineering, Property and Construction, Commerce or Finance.
10. Existing accreditation with the Australian Property Institute (API) as a Certified Practicing Valuer (Plant and machinery) CPV (P&M) or equivalent ASA or RICS accreditation will be highly regarded but not essential
11. Previous plant and equipment valuation experience preferred but not essential.
12. Strong commercial acumen with excellent interpersonal and client management skills
13. Strong problem-solving abilities and a commercial mindset
14. Excellent analytical, communication and teamwork skills
