Watershed is a live-in withdrawal and rehabilitation centre in Wollongong, where we provide support to men and women aged 18 and over on their recovery journey.
The six-week rehabilitation program can be accessed after detox is completed, and offers a holistic, evidence-based model of care which includes physical and psychological health promotion, harm prevention, and an introduction to social support networks.
Your Opportunity The AOD Support Worker role includes assisting with group sessions, taking clients to appointments, supervising self-administration of medication, and maintaining client records.
Working as a Support Worker at our Watershed residential alcohol and drug treatment centre, you'll provide support and supervision to clients undertaking the treatment program.
We are currently looking for casual team members to work a mixture of morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts on a 7-day roster.
The hourly rate this role is between $37.00 - $40.00 per hour plus penalties.
What you'll bring You need to be motivated, committed, and have a genuine interest in working within the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector.
As this is a casual role, we can't always guarantee the number of shifts you might get, so you'll need to be comfortable being called in as needed.
In terms of the role itself, not only is it about your technical skills, it's about who you are as a person and what you bring: Residential experience, not necessarily specific to AOD Flexibility and commitment to working a 24/7 roster pattern which includes evening and overnight 'sleep' shifts – and feeling comfortable working in an autonomous role Being an excellent communicator – you'll feel comfortable engaging with a range of people from different walks of life, in a non-judgemental and supportive way A friendly, open, and positive attitude – building relationships to support clients, and providing them with a positive role-model, will be a big part of your role Emotional maturity and a calm demeanour, especially in high-pressure or conflict situations Working within professional boundaries with a solid understanding of how to practice these with clients and colleagues You'll self-care – this role can be challenging and it's important to us that you are at your best, to do your best Being engaged and comfortable with change – we welcome ideas and suggestions for improvement Strong computer skills, experience with client note-taking and an understanding of how handovers work You will need to hold a National Police Check, and a current Australian Drivers Licence.
Tertiary qualifications in Alcohol and Other Drugs or related discipline would be highly regarded.
