Key opportunity for a VC Indigenous Doctoral Fellow to embark on a PhD in the STEM Health Sciences field, starting in 2025Identified position only for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidatesFixed-term contract for four yearsSalary: Academic A-B (from AU$90,000 p.a depending on level of experience) plus 17% super and flexible workingAbout the RoleThe primary focus of the VC Indigenous Doctoral Fellow is to undertake research activities directed towards the completion of a PhD in line with the University's research strategy. This role is based in the School of Biomedical Sciences in the area of Health Science.It is expected that the VC Indigenous Doctoral Fellow will meet all requisite PhD milestones as required during the course of the position and complete their PhD within the four years appointment of this role.There will be limited other functions associated with the position, which may include engagement activities, presentation of lectures and tutorials, assessment of students, and course administration in line with the University's quality assurance requirements. A maximum of 10% of workload is to be allocated to non-PhD related activity.About YouTo be successful for the appointment, you will have:Aboriginality or must be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage (Essential Selection Criteria).Research or industry experience in the areas of Psychology or other Health Science fields such as Public Health, Health Service Management, Mental Health, or similar areas.Appropriate academic background or equivalence to gain admission to PhD candidature.Ability to work autonomously while displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners.The ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.A high level of written and verbal communication skills.MandatoryApplicants must meet the eligibility criteria for PhD candidature for the Health Sciences field.Note:This is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of section 12 of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act 2010.
