Perth based – ad hoc site travel$90 - $120 per hour12 month contractNES Fircroft is looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer to join a Tier 1 mining client and support powerline construction projects across our mining operations. This role is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient design, installation, and maintenance of high-voltage electrical infrastructure that powers our mining sites.As a key member of the engineering team, you will work closely with project managers, contractors, and site personnel to deliver reliable power solutions that meet industry standards and operational needs.Your role:Powerline Design & Construction: Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of high-voltage powerlines and associated electrical infrastructure.Project Management: Assist in planning and executing powerline construction projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and safety regulations.Technical Compliance: Ensure all electrical work complies with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 7000) and relevant mining industry regulations.Risk & Safety Management: Conduct risk assessments and implement safe work practices in line with electrical safety requirements.Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to coordinate project activities and approvals.Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Support ongoing maintenance, inspections, and fault diagnosis of powerlines and electrical systems to minimize downtime.Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical reports, specifications, and progress updates for senior management and regulatory compliance.About you:Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in powerline construction or high-voltage systems within the mining, utilities, or energy sector.Knowledge of HV power distribution, transmission networks, and electrical protection systems.Experience working in mining or heavy industrial environments is highly regarded.Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of Australian electrical and safety regulations.Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PowerFactory, ETAP).Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Certifications & Requirements: Valid Electrical Engineering accreditation (e.g., RPEQ or CPEng preferred).High Voltage Switching qualification (desirable).Full Australian working rights.Interested?
