Social Workers and Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officers (AHLO) work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to provide person centred care for inpatients and their families/support networks. It is a fast-paced Acute Tertiary Referral Hospital system which will expand in 2026 with the opening of the new Acute Services Building (ASB). This is an exciting time to be included in reviewing and redefining models of care and strategic planning.About The Role:The position is responsible for day-to-day operations and direction of priorities for Social Work intervention in conjunction with Social Work Team leaders. This includes line management of staff, supporting Team Leaders and other higher graded positions in supervision of staff, rostering, ensuring the afternoon shifts and weekend shifts are supported and filled, recruitment to vacancies, high level understanding of budgeting for a large Department and management of resources, review of Policy and Guidelines and planning strategically to support the focus and direction of the Organisation.The position is supported by the Director Allied Health JHH/BDH, other Allied Health Profession Service Managers, taking a lead role in the Social Work Managers Group of HNELHD and a peer role with the Social Work Directors and Managers Group in Tertiary Referral Hospitals Group. There are many options for accessing Management training modules through both on-line and direct learning opportunities.About You:You'll need to be able to think creatively, have a good understanding of budgets and implications for funding, write and submit funding applications and possess people management skills. You'll need to have a good understanding of health and social matters impacting on Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people and their interactions with health services. You'll also need clear communication skills and the ability to use a variety of communication styles and provide succinct information to Executive Managers on service delivery implications as required.Requirements:Degree in Social Work providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).Interviews will be held in person (face to face) at JHH on Thursday 1st May or Friday 2nd May. Virtual interviews may be possible but are not preferred.
