The Director, Communication & Public Affairs, ANZ is a senior market leadership role, responsible for leading our communication and public affairs strategies for a critical market cluster - Australia and New Zealand. The role directly reports to the VP, Communication & Public Affairs for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Asia Pacific and its primary business partner is the Managing Director of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Australia & New Zealand. Leading 4 professionals, the role is a key member of the ANZ Leadership Team (JLT) and a core leader on the Innovative Medicine AP Communication & Public Affairs (C&PA) Leadership Team. The role will: - Lead the Communication & Public Affairs team in ANZ to deliver for our business and for patients- Lead the team to operational excellence across core areas of Therapeutic Area communication, corporate reputation, employee engagement and patient advocacy - Implement highly competitive and best-practice communication and public affairs programs that lead the industry - Coach, drive, lead and inspire the teams to develop cutting-edge communication and public affairs campaigns that accelerate business growth and patient access to our medicines - Lead the development of mid- to long-term focused strategies that prepare the market environment for future innovative pipeline solutions and actively advocate for a sustainable policy environment - Lead the scientific and medical community communication efforts to increase understanding of our R&D and innovation investment in ANZ - Create, lead and nurture a unified and high-performing team - Attract and retain market leading talent with regional and global career pathways - Deeply understand the needs of our business partners and ensure our team is working closely to meet them - Actively scan for and bring-in market best practices to elevate the skills and capabilities of the team - Develop key performance metrics and measurement tools, approaches, and systems to drive insights and performance - Manage and lead a network of external partners, such as public relations agencies, to deliver results for our business - Closely oversee budgets to ensure optimum resourcing for success - Develop systems and process to ensure strong and appropriate compliance across all elements of our work - Provide senior-level counsel, insights and guidance to the Managing Director, Innovative Medicine ANZ- Provide the Managing Director with strong strategic counsel and act as an engaged thought partner - Have a deep understanding of our therapeutic areas, the science and the strategy to provide broad, relevant counsel to our business leaders - Represent the Communication & Public Affairs function directly on the Leadership Team and actively guide their conversations and deliberations on topics concerning our reputation and positioning both in the market and internally - Counsel our senior leaders on change management as we prepare our organization to lead our industry in a new era of medicine - Lead our approach on key sensitive issues and in times of crisis - provide valued counsel to our leadership - Provide strong counsel to the Vice President, Communication & Public Affairs, Asia Pacific on topics related to ANZ, ensuring accurate insights are shared and appropriate support is delivered - Represent and champion our business with external and internal stakeholders, positioning J&J Innovative Medicine as the leading pharmaceutical innovator in ANZ (currently the 1 pharmaceutical company in Australia)- Build and manage an active network of media and thought leadership stakeholders to engage on key topics of relevance for our business - Partner closely with the Government Affairs and Market Access teams to actively shape our external operating environment - Develop and build strong relationships with key patient groups and social media influencers - Engage with key trade associations (e.g. Medicines Australia) and NGOs to shape our overall industry positioning - Serve as key media liaison in ANZ - both with traditional outlets and social and digital media outlets - Work closely with Business Unit leaders and other members of the Leadership Team to develop and execute strategies to engage and inspire our team - Drive outcomes by bringing a measurement focused approach to organizational communication, incorporating relevant metrics that are indicators of employee engagement - Partner closely with regional communication, Enterprise C&PA team, Media Relations, Employee Experience and Engagement, Strategy & Insights and other CoEs to ensure Enterprise alignment - Serve as lead media spokesperson on major issues in ANZ - Actively represent ANZ and engage with regional and global teams across Johnson & Johnson and around the world- Serve as an active and engaged member of the Asia Pacific Communication & Public Affairs Leadership Team - building a strong function across the region - Promote the development and movement of talent across the region - building future regional leaders from ANZ - Work across sector lines in ANZ to communicate powerfully as one Johnson & Johnson voice at key external and internal opportunities - Deliver key regional capability building and best practice sharing initiatives - Represent Asia Pacific at global forums and on global projects as required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree and above;
