Service Designer (APS6 & EL1) – 12-Month Contract Location: Hobart Hourly Rate: $60 - $80 per hour + Super Full-Time, Monday to Friday Start Date: April 2025 Australian Citizenship Required | Baseline Clearance Preferred About the Opportunity We are seeking experienced Service Designers (APS6 & EL1) to support a major government agency during a critical period of change.
As part of a collaborative team, you will play a key role in designing and implementing service improvements that enhance participant and stakeholder experiences.

Key Responsibilities: Research and analyse insights to improve service understanding Co-create and document current service states, identifying participant and staff experiences Facilitate process design improvements in collaboration with stakeholders Advocate for the voices of participants, staff, and stakeholders throughout the design process Lead and co-facilitate design-thinking sessions with service users Develop user journey maps, blueprints, and service artifacts across different phases Ensure service designs align with Digital Service Standards and business objectives Engage with internal teams, health professionals, carers, and participant groups to enhance services Assist with system tools, service improvements, and other strategic initiatives About You APS6 Role: Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to collaborate across complex environments Experience in system thinking and working with operational teams Fundamental knowledge of service design principles and methodologies EL1 Role: Experience mentoring and guiding junior designers (APS6 level) Proficiency with online whiteboards and service design tools Deep expertise in service design artifacts, user journey mapping, and blueprinting Ability to lead and facilitate design projects Ideal Candidate Profile: Qualification or experience in Service Design (essential) Understanding of participant experience and translating insights into impactful solutions Previous experience in government, health, or disability sectors (highly regarded) Ability to navigate a regulatory environment and support legislative changes Apply directly using the link provided or by submitting your CV.
