Based in Canberra ACT - Our EB Delivery team are seeking an Operational Architect who will deliver a high level of technical advice and expertise to support, identify and provide technical solutions and maintain architectural integrity in support of a customer’s account and the Optus account team.
You will be responsible for developing & reviewing detailed customer technical designs, bills of materials and Client proposals, both in response to ongoing operational in-contract needs and in major project Change Request scenarios.
You will develop innovative technical solutions to address customer business requirements, taking responsibility for coordinating all of the inputs to the architectural design and supporting the design through its life cycle.
You will be accountable for focusing on ICT & Data Networking, which includes areas such as Networks, Data Centre, Cloud, Collaboration and Security across technical designs, costing and risk assessment.

Your day in the life of an Operational Architect at Optus
1. Architectural design and documentation of the converged Network environments as a high level Design Authority
2. Deliver a high level of technical advice and expertise to support, identify and provide new technical solutions and maintain architectural integrity in support of the account and the Optus account team
3. Provide technical thought leadership and mentoring to the Optus delivery team for new solutions
4. Improve the partnership between Optus Business and the broader Optus community.
5. Improve the way people and process come together to deliver more seamlessly to our customers
6. Analyse prospective and current customer requirements and develop a profitable and suitable solution to meet customer needs
7. Responsibility for the design of complex business solutions that integrate all data, voice, video communications and systems components into an effective network
8. Provide Technical and Infrastructure Design for Managed Services solutions including cost and risk assessment
9. Being highly proactive with sales engagement for the development of best value for money and best of breed solutions.
10. Pro-active identification of cross-sell and up-sell opportunities
11. Perform customer focused enterprise technology presentations from ‘technical’ to CIO level.
12. Embed a consultative approach within Sales and Delivery
Your skills to pay the bills
13. This is a senior role, requiring extensive technical experience, with at least 3 years pre-sales/Embedded Architect experience at senior IT / executive level.
14. Experience in developing detailed customer technical designs, bills of materials and Client proposals, both in response to ongoing operational in-contract needs and in major project Change Request scenarios.
15. Experience in providing a high level of technical advice and expertise to support, identify and maintain architectural integrity of a deployed customer ICT environment
16. Experience in a Managed Solutions environment (including maintaining large corporate networks) - you must be seen as an industry technical/architectural expert in this area.
17. Expertise in managing diverse technical solutions
18. Detailed understanding of one or more of the following technology areas:
19. Data Networks (Juniper and/or Cisco, routing & switching)
20. Security (Juniper and/or Cisco)
21. Server and Storage technologies ( Netapp, VMWare, HP, Cisco UCS, Microsoft)
22. Network toolsets, reporting platforms and other related technology such as HP Openview, Compuware
23. Experience in providing support or leadership (from an architectural perspective) to operational support teams for problem resolution
24. Ability to question current processes and status quo and devise improvements
