Deputy Director, Rural Clinical School
About This Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity to provide academic leadership for the implementation of the MD Program and the Regional Training Hub (RTH) activities within the Downs-South West Medical Pathway (DDSW MP).
The University of Queensland (UQ) is one of four key partners in the DDSW MP, alongside the University of Southern Queensland, Darling Downs Health, and the South West Hospital and Health Service. This position is integral to the success of the DDSW MP.
In 2023, the UQ Medical School introduced eight geographically based Learning Communities, three of which are part of the Rural Clinical School. One of these, the Darling Downs-South West Learning Community, is aligned with the DDSW MP. These Learning Communities provide an academic home for students, academics, clinical teachers, and professional staff, where students are supported to grow as medical professionals throughout the MD program.
The University of Queensland also operates three Regional Training Hubs (RTH), designed to support medical students and prevocational doctors interested in rural and regional medicine, guiding them to become specialists in rural and regional communities. One of these hubs, RTH Southern Queensland, aligns with the footprint of the DDSW MP. The other two Hubs are in Central Queensland and the Wide Bay.
