About the Job
We are seeking a Qualified Cook to join our kitchen team in a busy restaurant environment. As a Qualified Cook, you will be responsible for performing various tasks, including training apprentices and ensuring high-quality food is prepared and presented.
Main Responsibilities:
* Examine foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness
* Regulate the temperature of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment
* Prepare and cook food according to recipes and menu requirements
* Season food during cooking to enhance flavors
* Portion food, place it on plates, and add gravies, sauces, and garnishes as needed
* Store food in temperature-controlled facilities to maintain hygiene and safety standards
* Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian or gluten-free options
* May plan menus and estimate food requirements based on customer demand
* May train other kitchen staff and apprentices to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge
Requirements:
* AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher equivalent qualification
* At least 3 years recent relevant work experience in a high-volume kitchen environment
* Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with colleagues and customers
