About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Cook to provide essential support within our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and preparing meals that cater to individual needs and preferences of patients and residents.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate interested in taking on casual work, providing planned and unplanned leave cover as needed.
Main Responsibilities:
* Prepare daily meals and beverages that meet individual requirements, including special dietary needs, allergies, and culturally sensitive options.
* Work under the guidance of the Chef Manager/Chef to monitor and suggest improvements to food service standards.
* Assume leadership responsibilities for the kitchen in the absence of the Cook/Chef Manager, overseeing the team to ensure effective outcomes.
* Maintain accurate records of resident/patient requirements and any changes that occur during shifts.
* Report food safety hazards/non-compliances to the Home Manager/Chef Manager or Chef.
About You
* TAFE Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Certificate Level III in Food Studies (or working towards) is highly desirable.
* Previous experience in aged care or healthcare settings is preferred.
* Completion of HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices or willingness to obtain certification.
* Familiarity with IDDSI and nutritional guidelines.
* Ability to prepare meals according to planned menus.
* Working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control principles.
* Proficiency in operating standard domestic and industrial kitchen equipment.
