Full-time; continuing Academic Level B or C $106,593 - $148,787 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas in tropical North Queensland. Level of appointment and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. About the opportunity The Lecturer /Senior Lecturer, Civil Engineering aims to consolidate James Cook University’s teaching and research expertise in Civil Engineering, aligned with the University’s strategic intent to build a sustainable future for people and industries in the tropics. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the incumbent will build an excellent profile in Civil Engineering, more specifically in Structural Engineering and/or related areas, with applications focused on Northern Australia and the broader tropical world, and make significant contributions to teaching, research, research training, partnership with industries, and services to the Academic Group of Engineering, the College of Science and Engineering, and the University. What you can bring to the role The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will be a promising or proven early career academic who will have great potential to establish a high-profile academic career in university teaching, research, partnership with industries and services. The candidate will have core skills in Civil and Structural Engineering, and a proven or promising track record of (i) teaching in Structural Engineering and other relevant engineering disciplines; (ii) publishing research in quality journals and conferences; (iii)attracting research/consulting funding, and (iv) supervising honours and postgraduate research students. The successful applicant would ideally have a good history of interdisciplinary collaboration and/or partnership with industries that will help build the Civil Engineering program and engage with industries pertaining to the region.
