About the Role:
The Student Support Professional will work closely with the Disability Inclusion & Wellbeing Co-ordinator to develop and lead programs that address student needs and promote engagement and wellbeing.
This role involves collaborating with School Leadership and the Wellbeing Team to establish an effective work plan based on school needs. The successful candidate will provide individual support or facilitate group work with students, offer professional student support services, and engage in outreach activities to support re-engagement of disengaged young people.
Liaison with service providers, welfare agencies, and relevant organizations will be required to facilitate student referrals. Building positive relationships with students and parents, as well as communicating consequences decided by the Leadership Team, are essential aspects of this role.
* Work with the Disability Inclusion & Wellbeing Co-ordinator to lead programs addressing student needs and promoting engagement and wellbeing.
* Collaborate with School Leadership and the Wellbeing Team to establish a work plan based on school needs.
* Provide individual support or facilitate group work with students.
* Offer professional student support services, including counselling and wellbeing support.
* Engage in trauma-informed practice, restorative justice principles, and case management experience.
* Provide high-quality outreach supports to disengaged young people to support re-engagement.
* Liaise with service providers, welfare agencies, and relevant organizations to facilitate student referrals.
* Liaise with parents, staff, and students as required.
* Develop positive relationships with students when managing them daily.
* Assist in student withdrawals and restorative conversations where necessary.
* Support students and staff around behavioural issues.
* Seek feedback from teachers and Learning Centre Leaders regarding student behaviour.
* Respond to major incidents after containment by staff on duty.
* Keep accurate and current case notes, including records of major and minor incidents.
* Support communication of consequences as decided by the Leadership Team to students and their families.
* Participate and conduct Student Support Group meetings (SSGs) and develop Student Support Plans (SSPs) as required.
* Participate in parent meetings regarding student learning and wellbeing, encouraging others to build partnerships and have regular communication with the parent community.
* Provide support for students to access course counselling and support in subject selection meetings, if necessary.
* Perform duties in accordance with DET guidelines, accepted practice, and College policy, respecting confidentiality, mandatory reporting requirements, and observing necessary boundaries.
* Other duties reasonably required by the Principal or delegate.
General Responsibilities:
* Communicate effectively and foster positive relationships with all members of the school community.
* Assist with College events such as assemblies, open nights, and celebration days.
* Demonstrate high-level organisational and time management abilities.
* Work effectively in a team environment.
* Demonstrate proficiency in office systems, including Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Outlook, & Excel), for data maintenance, record keeping, and compliance documents.
* Actively seek and participate in professional development, subject to College P&D guidelines.
* Attend and participate in team meetings.
* Participate in the College's performance and development processes in line with DET requirements.
* Perform general duties directed by the Principal within ES1-3 dimensions of work, as listed in the Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2022.

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)
