Work Type: Permanent Full Time/Part Time - School Hours Department: CFO Office Remuneration: Stream A, Level 3-4: $39.96 - $45.92 per hour + superannuation Central Highlands Regional Council is currently seeking a Finance Officer to join our Chief Financial Office. In this role you will be responsible to provide back up support in the banking, treasury and taxation functions, and provide general assistance and support to accounting and finance staff within the Financial Services department and in particular the financial accounting team. This position will also be a key point of contact for other departments on financial and accounting matters. In this busy role, you will support the organisation by: In consultation with the financial accountant and senior finance officer, ensure accurate, timely reconciliation of all council's financial accounts to ensure completion of councils statutory and management reporting. Assist with functioning of Council's revenue collections areas of rates and debtors in line with statutory requirements and Council's customer service framework. Undertake and assist with financial transactions, cash handling, receipting and banking processes in accordance with established procedures. In consultation with the financial accountant and senior finance officer, assist with monitoring and maintaining Council's investment and debt facilities. Assist with the accurate, timely completion of Council's relevant statutory reporting requirements. To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess: Minimum of Queensland C class provisional driver's license. Certificate, diploma, or degree qualifications relevant to a finance environment or experience gained through previous appointments in a similar field. Highly developed time management skills, with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines. Demonstrated understanding of local government legislation in relation to financial issues or the ability to quickly obtain. Demonstrated understanding of financial transactions and experience with financial systems. Intermediate level competence in the Microsoft Office suite particularly Word & Excel. Highly developed interpersonal and analytical skills. Ability to work in a team environment and follow strict procedures and guidelines.
