The ideal candidate will have the chance to navigate through an exciting growth period and contribute to the delivery of some of MLEI’s significant projects, both locally and nationally. Additionally, this role offers the opportunity to support the broader national MLEI operation throughout Australia. MLEI, being an employee-owned company, provides various opportunities for staff to become integral parts of the company fabric, including shareholding and leadership roles.RESPONSIBILITIESWorking within the Civil Team, as a 12D Civil Designer, you would be expected to:Work on a variety of projects including: Land Developments, Urban and Rural Road Design for both local government and road authorities, Stormwater Drainage and Commercial Buildings Civil Site Works.Effective communication with civil team staff as necessary to effectively undertake the requirements of the role.Providing technical assistance to drafters.Work with Engineering staff and drafters to deliver designs and drawings.Assisting in the development of standards, templates and guidelines for the office.Ensure company quality, environmental, health and safety processes are adhered to appropriately.Correct any project deficiencies that affect production, quality, and safety requirements prior to final evaluation and project reviews.Quality Assurance of Drafters work prior to final delivery.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSDemonstrated proficient knowledge of AutoCAD.5+ years of 12D design experience. Demonstrate proficient understanding of design knowledge in the following areas: Land Developments (bulk earthworks, roadworks and stormwater), Urban and Rural Road Design for both local government and road authorities, Stormwater Drainage and Commercial Buildings Civil Site Works.Demonstrated delivery history for civil designs in Australia.Competent in exercising sound design judgement whilst contributing to the design and development of solutions, identifying constraints, opportunities and buildability issues.Proficient knowledge of Austroads Guidelines, Australian Standards and relevant supplements.Able to explain design plans and ideas clearly, analyse large volumes of data and be able to assess solutions.Have the ability to collaborate within an engineering consultancy environment.Have the ability in communicating concepts/ideas to non-technical stakeholders.Have the ability to work autonomously on projects and report back to project team where required.Have the ability to work under pressure where it requires.Good interpersonal skills.Proven ability to take ownership of delivering the day-to-day requirements associated with design.Have the right attributes to work with staff to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
