About the Role
As the Recreational Activities Officer, you will drive the engagement and participation of residents in a range of social, recreational, and cultural activities, as well as mental health and wellbeing programs that empower our residents’ choices and independence. In running recreational activity programs, you will ensure individual residents’ needs, values, spiritual, and cultural preferences are taken into account.
This position is a fixed term part time working 60 hours per fortnight.
Skills and Experience
You have completed Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle (or are willing to complete it)
Experience working with people with Dementia (highly desirable)
You hold a current NSW/ACT Drivers License and will be able to take clients on outings
Senior First Aid Certificate is essential
Willingness to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check or provide current NDIS Worker screening clearance
You have previous experience in caring for the elderly within an aged or community care setting
You have highly developed organisation and time management skills
You have an understanding of Resident Rights, Aged Care Accreditation Standards, and Outcomes
Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of BaptistCare’s Christian identity and promote the organisation’s values through interactions at work

George Forbes House is located in the city of Queanbeyan, boasting sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and is nearby to Canberra. Featuring peaceful, spacious grounds, quaint courtyards, and an aviary and fishpond that add to the tranquil atmosphere.
The country comfort continues inside, where 85 generously sized rooms with ensuite bathrooms are available. Two wings are dedicated to top-quality dementia care within a secure environment.
