About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and agile Mine Production Engineer to join our team at Millmerran. In this newly-created role and addition to the current department, you'll coordinate and manage short-term mine planning activities, production reporting, stockpile management, and contractor supervision for the Commodore Mine and Millmerran Power Station. You'll also handle general project management for external projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership in continuous improvement and team development.
* Develop a collaborative approach with contractors and other teams.
* Ensure contractors are aware of relevant company policies and procedures whilst maintaining effective communication between all stakeholders.
* Implement corporate HSE standards, coordinate contractor activities, and monitor contractor performance to ensure objective achievements and adherence to standards.
* Prepare and submit reports as required.
* Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety Act, Environmental Protection Act, and Coal Mining Agreement along with Genuity's environmental control policies.
* Train, supervise and maintain systems to ensure the safety and health of all team members.
* Participate in improvement initiatives with contractors and power station personnel, including systems and processes, and assist other teams to achieve station goals.
* Optimise mining costs, including drill and blast, truck & excavator, and dozer push.
* Highlight items out of your control promptly for appropriate response.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
* At least 5 years of mine planning experience and operations, exposure to open cut mining, and experience with mine planning & scheduling software.
* Knowledge of Qld Coal Mining Safety & Health Act & Regulations and Qld Environmental Protection Act.
* Knowledge of mining, civil or heavy industrial processes, and coal quality.
* Experience in mine planning for Truck & Excavator and Dozer Push operations and contractor management is desirable.
Skills and Attributes
* Report writing, computer skills (mine planning & scheduling software), communication skills (verbal and written).
* Good communication and organisational skills, ability to work as part of a team, self-motivated and autonomous.
* Flexibility to adjust to changing demands, commitment to high standards of work performance.
* Ability to interpret legislation.
