Position: Sous Chef
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $73,500 plus superannuation per annum
Location: Adelaide SA 5000
Our client is seeking an experienced Chef to join their Café located in the city of Adelaide.
Tasks required include:
* Meal Preparation & Menu Design: Collaborate with the head chef to design seasonal menus and prepare meals, ensuring alignment with the café's focus on locally sourced, ethical ingredients.
* Food Inventory & Cost Control: Manage inventory, reduce wastage, and maintain food cost control by ensuring optimal use of ingredients.
* Portion Control & Presentation: Ensure consistency in portioning and presentation to meet high guest standards.
* Team Leadership & Training: Assist in managing and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring compliance with food safety protocols and maintaining a collaborative kitchen environment.
* Dietary Adjustments: Modify dishes to accommodate guest allergies or dietary restrictions, ensuring a personalized experience.
* Compliance with Australian Food Standards: Ensure adherence to Australian food safety regulations, including hygiene, preparation, and storage.
* Workplace Safety & OH&S Standards: Maintain a safe kitchen environment by complying with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations.
* Communication with Management: Collaborate with management on budgeting, menu development, and special event planning to support business growth.
* Event and Catering Management: Support the planning and execution of catered events, adapting menus to meet customer needs and preferences.
Requirements:
* Qualifications: Minimum Diploma of Hospitality required.
* Minimum two (2) years of experience as a chef.
* 7 day availability, including public holidays.
* Familiarity with Australian food safety and hygiene regulations.
* Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
* Expertise in menu development, food cost control, and portion management.
* Ability to adapt meals for special dietary needs.
* Strong communication skills for coordination between kitchen and management.
