Carmichael UK are seeking a competent Section Engineer to join the Devonport Docks project in Plymouth on a long term basis.
Due to the site being a high Security Military Naval base, additional security checks will need to be made. BPSS level of security clearance is required. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and have been a UK residence for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.
As a Section Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
* Manage the preparation of as-built drawings.
* Establish effective systems to record work completed, updating the Project Quality Plan accordingly.
* Manage systems to enable the progress of work to be reviewed against time, quality, dimensions, and quantity.
* Assist in the recording and testing of workmanship and materials, i.e., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork, etc.
* Provide engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered.
* Responsible for setting out works constructed within allowable tolerances.
* Regularly check the setting out points and benchmarks, ensuring all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are delivered to site with a calibration certificate and recorded accordingly.
* Ensure workforce understand setting out information suitable for the type of work being carried out.
* Manage the preparation of sketches for distribution on site, ensuring clear communication channels are in place for effective understanding.
* Responsible for providing and maintaining setting out and dimensional control, to ensure accurate construction of the work.
* Record instructions.
* Maintain drawing register.
Who are we looking for?
* Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent is desirable, one or more of: BSc, BA, BEng, Meng, Eng, Tech, MICE, TIStructE, LCIBSE, LCIBSEEng Tech, Completion of Higher Apprenticeship.
* SSSTS.
* CSCS White PQP/AQP.
* May be working towards Chartership/Incorporation with IStructE, ICE, or other appropriate professional body.
* Experience in a similar role.
