BCA Engineers is a highly regarded Australian owned and operated consulting engineering consultancy, providing building services engineering within South Australia, Victoria and the Northern Territory.BCA Engineers consult on a variety of projects, including hospitals, shopping centers, multi-storey apartments, defence facilities and schools.We are looking for an experienced Fire Engineer or a Graduate in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering with an interest in Fire Safety/Protection to join the team in our Darwin office.Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in fire engineering, civil or mechanical engineering or a related field, AND three years of progressively responsible experience in fire safety/protection engineering.Graduates with Australian residency keen for a career in Fire Engineering are also encouraged to apply.Eligible to attain Professional Engineering Status CPEng (Fire Safety), IFE (CEng), SFPE (PE). BCA Engineers will provide a career pathway for this to occur under the direction of our highly experienced professionals.Resourceful team player possessing strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work within project budgets and schedules.AutoCAD and Revit knowledge.Must be local (Darwin) candidate authorized to work in Australia.Responsibilities:Site surveys to assess, evaluate, and document existing conditions.Prepare concept, schematic design, design development and construction documents in support of fire safety and fire services system design.Conduct code assessments and incorporate applicable building and fire code requirements into the design.Complete material research and compile project data for the project.Perform hydraulic calculations in support of fire protection designs.Prepare project specifications.Communicate and coordinate work with project team, consultants and clients.Develop performance or alternative solutions to resolve standard or building code conflicts with design concepts or objectives.Reviewing drawings and specifications for new construction, renovation projects and most space layouts to ensure compliance with fire protection, exiting arrangements, and other safety features.Providing expertise on the realm of fire protection engineering, including but not limited to fire, smoke, life safety, compartmentation and egress.Providing expert consultation on fire protection and prevention.Interface with building authorities Councils, Building Surveyors and fire authority (FRV).Attend construction meetings, make periodic site observation visits.Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and other project correspondence.You will require excellent written and oral commercial skills. We are looking for someone with outstanding organizational and inter-personal communication skills.The successful applicant must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and have good CAD skills, particularly in AutoCAD and Revit.The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on some of the most interesting building projects in the NT.The majority of the work is office based in our Darwin office.Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or have permanent Australian residency and a driver’s license.Remuneration will be based on negotiations with the successful applicant.
