The Independent Advisory Council are looking for someone to join the team.
This role will work closely with IAC members, IAC Reference Groups, IAC's Senior Independent Advisor, and the IAC Secretariat.
The IAC to the NDIS gives critical advice to this Federal Agency. This advice takes the views of people with disability, carers, and sector experts to the heart of the National Scheme
In this role you will demonstrate capability including:
* An understanding of lived experience and understanding of the disability sector; providing expert advice and strategic direction that is regarded as an authoritative source.
* Sound strategic understanding of the NDIS' operating environment, particularly as it pertains to those living with disability and advice the IAC may wish to provide.
* Sound provision of technical advice and subject matter
* Experience in devising and implementing strategic advice expertise and research to continually improve the provision of Advice.
* Experience in developing advice that considers workplans, corporate priorities, the disability system, and its mainstream interfaces.
* Experience in managing strategic, advisory, or legislated relationships.
* Experience in writing for government organisations and delivering plain English documentation.
* Ability to represent the IAC in high level discussions and negotiations with key stakeholders.
o Facilitating reference group meeting discussions
o Undertaking research on behalf of the reference groups
o Assist with the development and delivering discussion papers, reports, and advice to IAC
o Assisting with independent projects on special topics
Key Skills:
o An understanding of lived experience and understanding of the disability
o Experience in supporting people to speak up
o Experience in managing differing views and perspectives
o Demonstrated experience in using plain English application in written advice
o Knowledge in devising and implementing strategic advice expertise and research
Desirable skills:
o Understanding of trauma informed practice
o Knowledge of intersectionality
o Experience in capacity building and peer led support approaches
