About the Role
We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our growing team at Ahrens - working between our Naval Base and Bellevue, WA offices. In this role you will drive the strategic growth of the business by identifying new business opportunities and fostering key client relationships in the mining and industrial sectors. The successful candidate will possess a proven track record in business development and a strong enthusiasm for driving growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Responsible for driving strategic growth through identifying new business opportunities and fostering key client relationships.
2. Leveraging market insights, understanding client needs, and collaborating cross-functionally to develop solutions that align with organisational objectives.
3. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, understanding their needs and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
4. Work closely with the marketing to build the database through Hubspot CRM.
5. Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients in the mining sector.
6. Identify and develop new business opportunities for projects relating to:Non-Process Infrastructure – Workshops, Warehouses, Administration Buildings, and Construction Camps;Structural/mechanical packages; and Asset management.
7. Identify key decision-makers within target organisations and establish rapport to facilitate business development efforts.
8. Develop and implement commercial strategies that support the profitability of the business.
9. Work with General Managers to identify and exploit opportunities for growth within existing contracts and new opportunities with existing/adjacent customers.
10. Prospect and generate new leads for new business opportunities through networking, referrals and cold outreach.
11. Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop business proposals and tenders.
12. Develop strategic plan to penetrate target markets and expand the companies presence in the Mining & Steel sectors.
13. Collaborate closely with internal teams such as operations, marketing and management to develop customised solutions for clients.
Skills and Experience
14. Technical experience in the Construction and/or heavy engineering industries – including construction management principles, industry processes and products and resource requirements;
15. Demonstrated track record of success in a business development capacity, working with senior executives;
16. Advanced networking skills;
17. Highly developed written and presentation skills;
18. Ability to source and coordinate internal capacity in putting together tenders, proposals and expressions of interest;
19. High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
20. Excellent time management skills with high energy and self motivation;
21. Knowledge of, and ability to source, subcontractors to mining projects.
