Your role The Financial Services Regulatory practice sits within our Funds, Superannuation & Financial Services (FSF) team and acts on some of the most complex and interesting financial services, consumer credit and AML/CTF regulatory matters in the market. As a Senior Associate in our market leading Financial Services Regulatory team, you will advise some of Australia's largest organisations on the application of the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009, the Corporations Act 2001, the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006, the ePayments Code, the Banking Code of Practice, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 and the Banking Act 1959. Our clients include major, regional and international banks, leading buy-now-pay-later providers, non-bank financiers, and national and international payment platform operators. You'll be given the opportunity to work on strategically and reputationally significant matters for our clients on matters like new product and business development, regulatory change projects, remediation activities, regulator engagement, compliance uplift and ongoing strategic advice. You'll also support our broader clients in regulatory disputes (specifically in the area of AML/CTF) and general M&A activities. You'll lead teams on larger matters and provide important mentorship and support to junior lawyers. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Melbourne or Sydney. About you You will have: At least 5-6 years PQE and strong experience gained from working in a financial services regulatory practice, ideally from a leading top tier, national or international firm, or a large in-house team. Specific, demonstrable experience in consumer credit and/or AML/CTF law, gained either in private practice, public sector or in-house. A passion to specialise and build a career in financial services regulatory and AML/CTF, with a focus on clients in the banking, non-bank lending and wagering sector A desire to learn, grow, network, mentor others.
