You will be contributing to our role as the national regulator to protect the safety, security and dignity of older Australians accessing aged care services.About the TeamThe Governance and Risk Section is responsible for leading and co-ordinating the Commission's approach to corporate governance, risk, audit and performance activities.The Freedom of Information (FOI) officer communicates with FOI applicants, internal and external stakeholders including decision makers to assist the Commission in preparing timely, accurate decisions and provide comprehensive FOI advice.About the RoleThe purpose of this position is to handle requests for documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.Position DutiesProcessing FOI requests and administrative release requests in a manner that complies with legal obligations, including the application of relevant timeframes.Liaising with FOI and administrative applicants to assist them to seek documents under FOI and relevant legislation, to clearly identify the requested documents.Conducting reasonable searches for requested documents.Accurately identifying exempt material within requested documents.Clearly explaining the reasons for a decision under the FOI Act.Accurately maintaining FOI data and preparing reports for Senior executives and the Information Commissioner.Preparing submissions in response to Information Commissioner review requests where required.Keeping accurate records.Developing positive and collaborative working relationships with team members and internal and external stakeholders.Position Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria):To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to assess documents and identify exempt material.Experience in the administration and application of the Freedom of Information laws, administrative information release regulations and guidelines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write comprehensive reasons for decisions and communicate with influence with a range of internal and external stakeholders.Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise with external parties and negotiate outcomes.Excellent coordination and organisational skills, including time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines, manage data reporting requirements.Experience working in agile environment, with digital project management tools and documentation.Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a high performing team to achieve positive outcomes and a positive workplace culture.A high standard of attention to detail.Sound judgement and critical thinking with an ability to identify and explain risk.Position NotesSalary offered will be between $92,970 - $104,883 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.Only candidates who hold Australian citizenship can apply. Appointment is conditional on successfully completing a national police check.Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term.
