Research Officer Job no: 512497 Work type: Full Time Location: QLD Research Officer - St. Lucia The School of Pharmacy is one of the largest Schools of this type in Australia with many active researchers engaged in a variety of research projects. An exciting research project within the School of Pharmacy is underway, designed to improve the way immunosuppressant drugs are used for transplant recipients. The Role: The primary purpose of this position will be to assist with population pharmacokinetic model building and evaluation and the application of these models to Bayesian forecasting. The applicant should have had some previous experiencing using population modelling programs such as NONMEM and/or using Bayesian forecasting programs such as ABBOTTBASE, TCI Works or MW PHARM. The research officer will be involved with the communication of results to the transplant physician and encouraging adoption of dosage prediction practises in transplant clinics. In addition to the above duties the research officer may be asked to assist with recruitment of patients into our studies and blood and tissue sample collection; to assist with collection of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic information from patient medical records; and to input concentrations-time-effect data into spreadsheets suitable for NONMEM, Bayesian forecasting and other statistical analysis. The position will be physically based in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Woolloongabba, as well as at the St Lucia campus of the University of Queensland. The Person: Applicants should possess a relevant doctoral or masters� qualification in science, pharmacy or a related discipline together with previous experiencing using population modelling programs such as NONMEM and/or using Bayesian forecasting programs. Excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues are also essentials. Remuneration: This is a full time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term position until December 2010. The remuneration package will be in the range of Academic Research Level A: $49,704 to $67,420 per annum, plus employer superannuation contributions of 17%.
