In this role, you will manage a range of projects and ensuring compliance with relevant Victorian building control legislation, codes and standards, local laws, policies, guidelines and Ministerial Guidelines.What you'll be doing:Carry out duties, functions and responsibilities in support of the Municipal Building Surveyor under and in accordance with the relevant instrument of delegation issued by the Municipal Building SurveyorProvide efficient, effective, cooperative and professional support to the Municipal Building Surveyor and Deputy Municipal Building SurveyorEnsure high-quality work and timely project completionAssistance with or preparation of Council reports or other building control related reports.To appear, represent and provide expert witness evidence in Building Appeals Board and Court proceedings.Attend to building control enquiries, investigations and "Emergency Callouts" in accordance with relevant building control legislation, rosters and policies.Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgetsLiaise with clients, contractors, and local authorities to address building-related issues and ensure compliance with regulationsStay up-to-date with the latest building codes, regulations, and industry best practicesImplement and maintain quality control processes for all surveying activitiesContribute to business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and maintaining client relationshipsCollaborate with other departments to enhance overall organisational efficiency and effectivenessThe skills and experience you'll bring to the role:???????Demonstrated relevant building surveying experience — survey, inspection and consultancy.Demonstrated ability to communicate information in relation to building control matters, legislation, techniques and processes.Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written material, correspondence and reports.Ability to perform building control inspections and investigations and provide advice and direction without supervision.Demonstrated highly developed working knowledge of all relevant Victorian building control legislation, Codes and Standards.Experience in the use of computer applications, MS Office (PC) and mainframe systems.Required Certifications & Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in the field of Building Surveying and registration as a Building Surveyor with the Victorian Building Practitioners Board.Current driver's licence.Why Hume City Council?A leader in local government, we're committed to creating an inclusive and collaborative work environment that is guided by our values:We're better, every day: We give things a go and value progress over perfection.
