Key Responsibilities:
* Teaching Excellence: Deliver high-quality teaching in our Actuarial Science Program. As a Unit Coordinator, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum and ensuring a robust learning experience.
* Student Supervision: Oversee and guide student projects, including Honours and Masters Theses as well as industry-related projects, helping students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
* Industry Insight: Bring your current industry experience into the classroom, bridging the gap between theory and practice and providing students with valuable, up-to-date perspectives.
* Engagement & Innovation: Contribute to the development of innovative teaching strategies and resources, ensuring our program remains at the forefront of actuarial education.
What We’re Looking For:
* Industry Expertise: An Actuary with relevant, current industry experience. We value practical knowledge that can enrich our teaching and benefit our students.
* Teaching Commitment: Proven experience in delivering engaging, high-quality education at a tertiary or professional level. Experience in unit coordination and student supervision is highly desirable.
* Passion for Education: A genuine enthusiasm for mentoring and supporting students in their academic and professional journeys.
Selection Criteria
Please provide 1-2 paragraphs (between 100 - 200 words) addressing the following selection criteria for this position:
1. Professional accreditation as an Actuary, ideally a Fellow, with at least 5 years of relevant, current industry experience.
2. Proven high level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching and learning.
3. A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice in Actuarial Science.
4. Demonstrated experience in education, combining your knowledge of curriculum development and co-ordination of learning experiences with Actuarial Science expertise.
5. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead teaching and learning initiatives and provide mentoring to less experienced staff.
6. An emerging record of peer reviewed publications (desirable).
7. Demonstrated ability to contribute to scholarship of teaching and learning with an emerging record of success in winning grants to support projects and initiatives (desirable).
