About the Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Senior Finance Officer will provide expert financial advice and support across the department. You will play a critical role in coordinating financial management, ensuring compliance, and leading business improvement initiatives.
Your Contribution
* Lead end-of-month and year-end financial processes, preparing monthly accruals, reconciling general ledger accounts, generating recurring/prepayment documents, and preparing reports to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and legislation.
* Monitor and review monthly cash book and corporate card reconciliations, identifying errors and analysing expenditure to ensure accurate financial reporting.
* Oversee the corporate card program, providing executive training and supporting international delegates, and act as an administrator for the Corporate Travel Management (CTM) system.
* Manage the department's vendor data processes, overseeing both domestic and international payments.
* Prepare and maintain financial registers and reporting activities to ensure compliance with legislation and accounting standards.
* Contribute to the development and improvement of financial policies, ensuring alignment with current legislative and regulatory requirements.
* Provide advanced training and mentorship to internal and external stakeholders, including international network partners.
* Foster collaborative relationships across key stakeholders in Australia and overseas, supporting effective communication and business improvement initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate
* Demonstrated experience in a financial management role with strong knowledge of accounting legislation and standards.
* Expertise in accounts payable/receivable, journal preparation, and general ledger reconciliation.
* Ability to navigate ambiguity and implement change in client-focused environments.
* Skill in identifying complex financial challenges and devising effective solutions.
* Exceptional communication skills and resilience, with the ability to manage competing priorities in high-pressure situations.
Qualifications
A qualification in accounting, business, commerce, or a related discipline is highly desirable and will be favourably regarded.
